The Shell Game: Don't be Fooled by Lower Rates in Ontario in 2021

We've all seen the shell game played where a ball gets moved around under one of 3 cups, and invariably it's never under the cup you thought it would be. It's not magic, it's 'slight of hand' removing the ball from under that cup, while they distract you

Well, that's what the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) is doing with electricity rates. Don't fall for it. The OEB's big announcement is that rates are going DOWN on January 1, 2021 in Ontario, but in fact households and small businesses are very likely to see no difference in their bill at all, as the rebate they receive on the end of their bill is also coming down... significantly. The resulting rate cut will be offset by a reduction in the Ontario Electricity Rebate (OER), being cut from the current 33% to 21%. Watch these cups very closely, nothing in my hands...

This manipulation is another shell game, moving money from one pile to another for public optics. The OEB gets to claim rates have been lowered, but they are taken out of a rebate that they knew they couldn't sustain. Robbing Peter, to pay Paul...

Well folks, it's time to take back control. Enough with the games. With solar energy, you pay a one time fixed fee that will reduce your costs electricity for decades - it's honest, it's upfront and most importantly, there is no shell game.
